Located between the Animas River and Fort Lewis College, Downtown Durango is a quiet mountain town with just enough commercial activity and culture to make it a popular stop for many Rocky Mountain tourists. In the center of it all, Main Avenue is a Nationally Registered Historic District where you’ll find many boutique shops, restaurants, and bars, along with galleries and historic buildings. Here, Old West history blends with Southwest aesthetic, all with the liveliness you’d expect from a college town.
